Time to break down the prospects from Ohio….

Gabriel Arter 6’2″ 2018 (Granger, IN – Elkhart Christian Academy) The thing that sticks out with Arter is his feel for the game.  He played with different speeds, saw the floor well, knew how to draw the defense by keeping the dribble alive and attacking certain gaps, and didn’t force anything.  With that being said, it wasn’t shocking at all that Arter had the best assist to turnover ratio at the camp and he will be a very solid point guard addition for a program when he signs next year.

Time to break down the prospects from St. Louis…

Jaxon Davis 6’0″ 2018 (Springfield, MO – Glendale) Davis was one of the premier shooters of the camp, if not the premier one.  Davis knocked down 10 of 14 shots from the inside the arc and 8 for 20 from outside the arc with confidence all camp long.  The guard from Springfield did so by moving without the ball, spotting up, and also showed the ability to take opponents off the dribble.  His ability to score and alertness to how the defense is playing is attractive.  One ot watch closely over the next year.

Nick Heltne 6’3″ 2018 (O’Fallon, IL – O’Fallon Township) Heltne was another one of the better shooters that attended Coach Pete’s camp in Saint Louis.  You could feel the confidence he had in his shot as he possessed a savvy about him that couldn’t be denied.  Programs that are looking to add a shooter and toughness should take a trip to O’Fallon, Illinois because there’s a good option in Heltne.

Isaiah Burton 6’4″ 2017 (Kansas City, MO – Raytown) Burton very possibly could’ve had the most productive camp out of all participants.  The senior guard out of Raytown High School in the Kansas City area went 20 for 33 from inside the arc, 4 of 12 from outside the arc, had 13 assists to 3 turnovers, and was the camp’s second best rebounder with a total of 30 rebounds.  With a body to grow into and the athletic ability that he possesses, Burton has plenty of talent that was on display and coaches should be taking a look at.  He has a chance to be a hot commodity as we get closer to the Spring.
