El Paso, TX – 2016 Prospect-X Showcase was SOLD OUT! We had over 60 participants and had to open extra spots to meet the demand. We filmed the event and added many of the highlights to our YouTube channel.  4 of the participants have already received college offers. To be a TOP Performer you had to show something and stand out both days. There is no ranking in the listing. Let’s take a look at some strong performances over the weekend.

Division Champs– David Shutikk, Adain Medina, Noah Benevides, Nathan Ochoa, Jaime Sotelo & Kobe Barrientos.


Boys Freshman/Sophomore Division

This division had balance and competitiveness.

Jadyn Thomas Parkland HS 6’3. Was a problem down low rebounding and in the post offensively.

Noah Benevides El Paso HS 5’11. Handles the ball well and is very fast. Has a jump shot to go with it.

Austin Brown Pebble Hills HS 5’10. Showed some range. Great penetration to the basket and is quicker than he looks

Aaron Reyes Montwood HS 6’3. He was a load down low. Agile and has pretty good range.

Division Champs

Madelyn Mendoza, Irlanda Martinez, Angelica Enriquez, Iris Sanchez, Vanessa Lopez, Anaya De La Cruz

Girls Division

There were some great games and talent in this division. Here are the ones that stood out over both days.

Irlanda Casteneda Lidya Patterson HS. 5’11 but plays a lot bigger. Very strong and has long arms. She had nice touch from the mid-range.

Athina Castenon Eastlake HS. 6’1. Versatile player who can play big and had outside range.

Vannessa Lopez Franklin HS 5’8. Wing defender who was defensive MVP of the year last year for the district. She has an offensive game as well with her shooting.

Anaya De la Cruz Bel Air HS 5’5. Handles the ball well and can pass too.

Iris Sanchez Socorro HS 5’6. An aggressive defender who was everywhere. Her aggression on the floor stood out.elpaso-prospectxProspects-X Showcase was another high demand event with exposure for Texas players

Others who showed us something

Jimiyah Stewart Pebble Hills HS 5’4 Crafty Lefty who is athletic, got to the basket a lot and had a good feel for the game.

Kaylee Martinez Eastwood HS 5’9. Post player who was around the basket a lot and has a knack for the ball. Rebounds very well and handled the ball better than you think.

Division Champs – Devon Howard, Krystopher Vargas, Seth Daw, Vincent Johnson, Martin Rios

Boys Varsity Division

The division was the biggest and had lots of athleticism.

Willie Avalos Pebble Hills HS 6’2. Has some range. Penetrates well to the basket. Athletic wing.

Gabe Lujan Ysleta HS 5’8. Was a real good shooter

Ian Castillo Riverside HS 5’7. Defends very well, Leads and finishes. He also knocked down a lot of big jump shots

Moises Ulloa Riverside HS 6’ Great Bball IQ and good ball handler

Alanso Johnson Las Cruces HS 6’1. Can shoot. Played defense. Has a good feel for the game and was active. He showed unselfishness

Others who showed something

Desean Moore Pebble Hills HS 6’3 Long and had some great mid- range moves for shots

Krystopher Vargas Americas HS 5’11. Showed good handles and is shifty with the ball

Antonio Suber Chapin HS 6’1 Athletic and was active on both ends

Devon Howard Pebble Hills HS 6’2 He Does all the little things you need from a player

Cobe Williams Dallas Academy 5’10 He only played one day but his dominance was on display. He got to the basket at will. Finished either hand and played great defense.

Devon Esslinger Las Cruces HS 6’4. Is very active and can score in many ways.
