Phoenix, AZ – One of the top recruits in the class of 2014 lives in Phoenix and lives on the basketball court.

It can be 110 degrees outside and you just might find 6 foot 7 Zylan Cheatham on a basketball court inside or out. Cheatham has came a long way over the past few years and now is on several college coaches wish list for the class of 2014.

Area Codes Basketball had a chance to catch up with as we call him “Z” today as he is getting away from the Arizona heat and spending the weekend in Southern California.

On Friday he will be on an unofficial visit to San Diego State University and Saturday he will visit University of Southern California and newly hired head coach Andy Enfield.

I watched “Z” play in the NIKE EYBL league with California Supreme, a few weeks ago in Minneapolis, MN and he was impressive in all four games.

“Zylan is a great kid and humble, one that is very talented and I always talk to him and sometimes train him. One of the best kids in the program I have mentored, I have know him for over 6 years and use to practice at 6:30am and he would always be there”, said Albert Ramirez of NFL YET & Southwest Sports Academy.

Cheatham a Globetrotter; spent his freshman year of High School at St. Mary’s, after the school year due to financial reasons left for South Mountain High School a public school for his sophomore year. After his sophomore year he decided to enroll at Westwind Prep in Phoenix, AZ for his junior year. Now with one year left he is weighing all his options and is unsure of his return to Westwind.
