Recap – 2013 & 2014 Scholar Athlete Academic Showcase
Phoenix, AZ – On Saturday September 8 in Phoenix, 75 of the top high school prospects in Arizona participated in the Scholar Athlete Academic Showcase at St. Mary’s High School.
Co-Directors Chad Groth (Area Codes Basketball) and Rick McGee (Next Level Basketball) hosted one of the best showcases of the Fall and with the exception knowing these players have over a 2.8 grade point average. “That’s what it will take to be qualified to play basketball at the next level you must keep the standards high and not risk, not making it”, said McGee.
This event was an “Invitation Only” as the committee selected the Scholar Athletes by reference of Scouts, High School Coaches, AAU Coaches and Committee members on the Area Codes Basketball board.
The guest speakers were First Class and did a great job giving different messages to the Scholar Athletes, included Keaton Sauncy (Admissions Counselor – Grand Canyon University), Larry Hill (Son Lawrence Hill played for Stanford University), Sid Sharma (explosive-athletes.com), Michael Steward (Tohono O’ Odham College), Jeff Meadows (Hoopsreport.com), Lew Roberts (vegaspremierball.com) and Oye Waddle (www.gameplanintl.com).
We also want to thank Arizona Christian University assistant coach Dustin Hamman and Tohono O’ Odham assistant coach Michael Steward for attending and scouting the Scholar Athlete Academic Showcase for future prospects.
