ALL TOURNEY TEAM – MAGIC MEMORIAL DAY FESTIVAL
Los Angeles, CA – Now that the Magic Memorial Day Festival has come to a close and the tournament recap was posted, now is the time Area Codes Basketball breaks down the All Tournament Team from the participants in the 17U Elite Division.
I watched several prospects over the three day tournament and below is my run down of the Top 15 prospects.
FIRST TEAM
Jaron Hopkins, 2013 (The Magic-AZ) – The 6’4 PG controlled every game scoring at will and was very active on the ball defender. Hopkins made big plays all weekend long. Elite High Major Prospect.
Derrick Randolph, 2013 (Paul George Elite) – The 5 foot 8 PG is lightning quick and attacks the basket, defends tough on his man and can shoot. Hit a three point game winner against Dream Vision. Did verbal to Fresno State but I hear its not valid.
Isaac Hamilton, 2013 (Dream Vision) – Ham was very dominant on offense and is a high octane scoring machine with quick footwork and gets to the basket with a blink, the 6 foot 3 guard is an Elite High Major Prospect.
Stephen Domingo, 2013 (Dream Vision) – The 6 foot 7 wing has a smooth game on both ends of the floor, scored in volumes and can handle the ball with excellent passing skills. Gave a verbal to Georgetown University last week.
Zena Edosomwan, 2013 (Belmont Shore) – The 6’8 power forward can also step out and face up, rebounded very well and is well skilled on the low post with an unstoppable jump hook. Elite High Major Prospect.
SECOND TEAM
Tyler Dorsey, 2015 (Belmont Shore) – The 6’5 guard can slash to the rim, handle the point and hit the open jumper. Dorsey is a very complete athletic prospect that is a high major prospect.
Ajon Efferson, 2014 (Paul George Elite) – The 6’0 PG does so many things well on the court, playing both ends, long range shooter and netted 32 points against Dream Vision. Has great upside and solid ball handler.
Michael Barry, 2012 (San Diego Magic) – The 6’2 shooting guard could not miss all weekend, making long ball shots and has major talent. Barry was little known nationally but averaged 20 points per game in the tourney.
Daniel Hamilton, 2014 (Belmont Shore) – Hamilton is listed at 6 foot 7 and has a good feel for the game, very bouncy, makes plays above the rim and is long in length. Future high major prospect with ceiling to get higher.
Paul Watson, 2013 (Compton Magic Elite) – The 6’6 SF is a plus athlete and active on both ends, has bounce, can defend well and blocks shots in transition. High major prospect.
THIRD TEAM
Drew Bender, 2013 (The Magic-AZ) – Bender was active all tourney and has a solid basketball IQ, knows how to play and shoots the ball from 3 point range. The 6 foot 5 shooting guard is a solid mid major plus prospect.
Ikenna Iroegbu, 2013 (Belmont Shore) – The 6’2 PG makes others better with incredible decision making in transition. Also can score attacking the basket, high major prospect.
Payton Banks, 2013 (Compton Magic Elite) – The 6’5 guard played the best basketball I have seen this weekend all spring, drives hard to the basket and defended solid. End of the day will end up high major prospect.
Anthony January, 2012 (Dream Vision) – January listed at 6’6 was impossible to keep out of the lane, defended well and finished at the rim. Played well every game and is a solid talented guard.
Kameron Rooks, 2013 (Gamepoint) – Rooks plays big at 6 foot 10 and needs to get in better shape. Rooks displayed skills in the post and has a soft touch around the basket. Low major prospect with upside.
